John Legend to headline 24th annual Nobel Peace Prize Concert

Nobel Peace Prize Concert organizers today announced that Oscar, Grammy and Tony Award winner John Legend will headline the 24th annual event in Oslo, Norway on December 11th at Telenor Arena, honoring the Nobel Peace Prize laureate.

Joins an elite group of artists

Legend performed at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert in 2006 and again joins an elite group of artists who have performed at the concert over the years, including Paul McCartney, Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Sting, Andrea Bocelli, Tina Turner, Ellie Goulding, Kygo, A-ha and many others.

“Our capacity to transcend borders – to work together to overcome hate with love, to eradicate violence and, instead, pursue justice – is what moves us closer to a peaceful future.

As an artist, an activist, and a father, I am honored and humbled to take part in this year’s Nobel Peace Prize Concert as we use our voices to advocate for peace in the face of global adversity.”- Legend.

Welcome back John

“We’re thrilled to welcome John Legend back to Norway for this year’s Nobel Peace Concert,” said Olav Njølstad, Director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute. “His powerful and influential voice, both on and off the stage, will help spread the message of peace to a global audience.”

Singer, songwriter and activist, John Legend, has garnered ten Grammy Awards, an Academy Award, a Golden Globe, and a Tony among others. In 2016, Legend released his fifth studio album “Darkness and Light,” to rave reviews and toured to sold out audiences across the globe. Legend is also one of the principles for Get Lifted Film Co., a film and television production company based in Los Angeles. Get Lifted Film Co. serves as Executive Producers on the HBO documentary “Southern Rites,” Pop Network docu-series “Sing it On”, WGN America’s series “Underground,” and films such as “Southside With You” and “La La Land.” In 2015, Legend initiated the #FREEAMERICA campaign; a campaign designed to change the national conversation of our country’s misguided policies and to make a change in America’s criminal justice system.

Legend joins previously announced EDM superstar Alan Walker on the Nobel Peace Prize Concert lineup, with additional artists to be announced in coming weeks.
